Air Canada has been named the Best Airline in North America at the prestigious 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards, held this week at the Paris Air Show. The global awards, determined through surveys of over 22 million airline passengers worldwide, spotlight excellence in air travel—and Air Canada emerged as a major winner.

Along with the top regional title, Air Canada secured several accolades across various categories, further cementing its status as a leader in the aviation industry. Its Toronto Signature Suite was again named the World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining for the second consecutive year. The airline’s cabin crew were also celebrated as the Best in both Canada and North America.

Air Canada’s low-cost arm, Rouge, was honoured as the Best Low-Cost Airline in North America. Other recognitions included Most Family Friendly Airline in North America, Best Premium Economy and Business Class Onboard Catering in North America, and Best Business Class Lounge in the region.

Michael Rousseau, President and CEO of Air Canada, expressed pride in the airline’s performance: “We are tremendously proud that Air Canada has been named the Best Airline in North America. I thank our customers for their loyalty and our 40,000 employees worldwide for their commitment to delivering safe, world-class service,” said Rousseau. “While we celebrate this recognition, we remain focused on raising the bar even further for our passengers.”

Rousseau also highlighted the importance of competing against top global carriers, adding: “These awards speak volumes about our people and our progress. But we are not standing still—we’re committed to enhancing the travel experience even more.”

Recent upgrades by Air Canada include the rollout of fast, free onboard Wi-Fi, a redesigned mobile app, complimentary snacks and beverages, and expanded entertainment options. The airline has also invested in new and upgraded lounges, simplified airport procedures, and offers a flexible intermodal travel program that connects air, rail, and bus options on a single ticket.

The Skytrax awards underscore Air Canada’s momentum in elevating its service and strengthening customer loyalty as it continues to represent Canadian excellence on the global stage.
